Matthew has been a lover of stories since his youth. It is only fitting that he has grown up into a storyteller in his own right. Honing his craft in news media, where he specialised as a photojournalist, he is now using his talents in the communications industry – primarily with non-profit and non-governmental organisations to bring tangible change to society through communication. Through vast life experiences, he has allowed the situations encountered to instil empathy, understanding, and nuance in his art, making him a compelling storyteller for societal change.
He hopes that by telling stories and expressing narratives through a myriad of communications media, he can create safe spaces and opportunities for himself and others to contribute to a just and integrated society.
Matthew’s wide scope of expertise includes photography, video production and editing, graphic design, web development, and social and online media communication. Matthew Jordaan has over 18 years of experience in the communications industry. While working across both online and traditional media, he has established himself as a multi-award-winning journalist and communications specialist. Having spent most of his career in journalism, Matthew has established a reputation for integrity, ethics, in-depth research, and meticulousness to detail. He is recognised in South Africa as a multi-award-winning photojournalist and content creator.
As a natural communicator, he has worked across multiple sectors, including media, corporate, public, private, governmental, NGO and NPO. His primary passion lies within the continent of Africa, but has extensively travelled globally communicating compelling narratives.
Due to his adaptive communication abilities and extensive client base (including the World Economic Forum, the International Science Council, the South African International Maritime Institute, and the Co-Habitat Network at the UN-Habitat World Urban Forum), Matthew can seamlessly create content for communications that effectively communicate the nuanced sentiment of his clients and subjects.
